Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures has gotten into gear for "Gearhead," buying the film rights to the graphic novel.
Hurd will produce "Gearhead," which was created by Dennis Hopeless and Kevin Mellon and published as a four-issue series by Arcana Comics.
Story revolves around a young woman who leaves the drag strip to team up with a group of rebels to fight the corrupt superheroes who govern the U.S.
Hurd and Valhalla most recently produced "The Incredible Hulk" for Marvel and the upcoming "Punisher: War Zone," due to be released Dec. 5.
Arcana Comics has published more than 150 original comicbooks and graphic novels as a division of Arcana, owned by CEO Sean O'Reilly. Titles include "The Clockwork Girl" and "Kade"; company also develops existing brands for Disney, Sony, Capcom and HBO.
